Chuck entered this world in Washington DC on June 24, 1957, and left the arms of his loved ones on July 10, 2025 while living in Bear, DE. Chuck fought a courageous battle against cancer with grace and strength and passed peacefully at home.
Chuck Hopper was the kindest and most positive person you'd ever meet. A true gentleman that believed in the good of all people and took the time to find it. Fifteen years ago, last month Chuck married his soulmate and best friend Patty McMinds. They shared a loving and happy life together with their family and close circle of friends.
He worked at Bayshore Ford as one of their top truck salesmen retiring after 33 years. Many of his clients became lifelong friends.
Chuck was a loyal Washington Commanders (Redskins) fan and also loved hockey and the Washington Capitals. His second favorite hockey player was Ovechkin. Chuck's favorite hockey player was his granddaughter Rory as he attended every game and cheered her on from grade school through college. Chuck also attended his grandsons' sporting events, until his illness prevented him from doing so.
Chuck was a spiritual man and attended mass every Sunday morning.
He was predeceased by his father Peter Hopper, his daughter Jessica Hopper and his sister-in-law Maureen Vansant.
Chuck is survived by his wife and the love of his life Patty McMinds-Hopper. He is also survived by his daughters Stephanie Hopper and Rachel Hopper, his stepdaughter Mindy Essick (Zach), grandchildren Rory (Ryan), Julian, Carson and Silas, brother in laws George Vansant and Freddy McMinds (Dianne).
He is also survived by his mother Pauline Hopper, and his uncle Michael Hopper, and many nieces and nephews, too many dear friends to mention and of course his constant pal their little pooch Mia!
A Celebration of this amazing man's life and his affect on all of us will be at the Newark Country Club, 300 West Main Street. Newark, DE 19711 on Sunday July 27, 2025. The service will begin promptly at 1 pm and the celebration will continue after the service until 4 pm.
