Charles "Butch" Horney, age 90, of Jamestown, was born February 11, 1935 in Bowersville, Ohio. He was faithfully greeted by his wife Beverly with open arms at the gates of Heaven on June 9th, 2025. Beverly and Butch had four children, Jeff Horney, LuAnn (Steve) Mattox, Karen Applegate, and Bruce (Jenny) Horney. They had six grandchildren, Jessica (Jason) Bryant, Ben (Sierra) Grooms, David (Jamie) Appelgate, Randi Lee (Steve) Eavers, Mistan Baily, and Heath (Amanda) Grooms. They had fifteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Butch and Beve recently had an anniversary on June 4th, and would have celebrated 68 years of marriage. They were foster parents and loved and cared for twelve children in the 10 years that they fostered. Butch excelled in everything he did. He loved bowling, horseshoes, fishing, euchre, bingo, pool, and trapshooting. Most of all he loved God and his family. Anyone who knew him can tell you how strong his faith was. He could recite and verse out of the Bible and was not ashamed to talk about it. He worked at NCR in Dayton for 18 years, he also worked for the department of Transportation in Xenia, Ohio where he retired after 22 years. He attended the Bowersville United Methodist Church from his youth until the doors closed in 2011. His current church was the Jamestown Presbyterian Church. Butch is preceded in death by the love of his life Beverly, his three sisters and their husbands, Geneva Rose and Dale Kirk, Anna Louise and Eral Hite, and Della "Tate" and Noel Brown; his brother Floyd "Bud" and Sandy Horney; and a special; son-in-law Randy Applegate. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, and 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday June 18 at the Powers-Kell Funeral Home, Jamestown. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Mike Helling and Elder Cody Myers officiating. Closing Prayer will be offered by Butch's nephew, Bobby Kirk. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Bowersville.

Butch was my uncle and a favorite of mine. He was always kind to me and I always loved seeing him. I stayed with them when Mom was in the hospital and was treated like just another of their children. He will be greatly missed
