Linda Gail Jones Horney

Linda Gail Jones Horney, age 77, of Marion, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 20, 2025.

Born on November 12, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Jessie James Jones and Amelia Franklin of Newland, NC. Linda was known as “Boo” to her husband Charles and as “Little Nannie” to her grandson Cole and many who loved her.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Jones; sister, Becky Jones Careccia; and brother, Jessie James Jones, Jr.

Linda leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 37 years, Charles Horney; son Eddie Hobson and wife Windy of Marion, NC; daughter, Pam Watson and husband Scott of Newland, NC; grandchildren, Cole Hobson, Chelsea Easley and husband Jacob, Chase Watson and wife Summer, and Chance Watson; and five great-grandchildren.

She is survived by siblings, Jerry Jones and wife Carolyn of Newland, NC, Brenda Jones of Newland, NC, Allen Jones and wife Lucy of Newland, NC, Peggy Jones Massey of Newland, NC, Ricky Jones and wife Valerie of Morganton, NC, Connie Jones Poteat and husband Rick of Morganton, NC, Lucinda Adams of Marion, NC, and Kim Calhoun and husband Robert of Newland, NC. Linda also leaves behind to cherish her memory numerous loving nieces and nephews as well as a special friend, Patti Wood.

Linda loved working outside in her beautiful flowerbeds and was an avid home keeper. Before her health started to decline, it was not unusual to see her with a paint brush in her hand, using a pressure washer, or doing some other form of manual labor. She loved helping her brother Jerry split wood and working with him on his farm planting and harvesting. She was a member of New Manna Baptist Church in Marion, NC.

Services will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Tony Shirley and Pastor Bruce Ward officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Manna Baptist Church Building Fund at 245 E. Court Street, Marion, NC 28752 and also to CarePartners Hospice Solace Center at 21 belvedere Road, Asheville, NC 28803.

The family would like to thank all the staff at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center for the loving care that they provided during her stay with them.
