Charles Lafayette Hunter, 85 of Little Clear Creek, passed from this life on November 18, 2025, in Middlesboro, Kentucky. Charles was born on August 26, 1940, to the late Floyd Grant and Lou Gertrude Fuson Hunter in Little Clear Creek. Charles attended Bell County High School. He married the love of his life, Bertha Brock, on September 9, 1959, and was married for 57 years. He served his county in the United States Army from 1961 – 1965. Upon honorable discharge from the Army, Charles moved to Ohio and began working at General Motors where he retired in 1990. Upon retirement from GM, he returned to Little Clear Creek.
Charles was ordained as a deacon on April 2, 1973, at Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church in Junction, Ohio. Upon return to Little Clear Creek, he served as a deacon at Fuson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for 35 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Brock Hunter; his brothers, Bobby Hunter and Jimmy Hunter; and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include his sons, Terrence and Beth Hunter, Charles “Tiny” and Jennifer Hunter, and Donald and Carroll Hunter; five grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Marily Gail Fuson; and many nephews, nieces, other family, and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Fuson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Clint Goodin, Rev. Waylon Hunter, and Rev. Mark Hunter officiating. Music will be provided by Barry Barton and the church choir. Burial will follow in the Fuson Chapel Cemetery at Little Clear Creek. Pallbearers will be DJ Hunter, Eric Hunter, Joseph Hunter, Keith Fuson, Scott Hunter, Adam Hunter, Caleb Hunter, Cody Goodin, and Tyronne Bartley.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Fuson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Little Clear Creek.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Middlesboro Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility.
