Official Obituary for Charles J. Johnson
November 11, 1953 – August 5, 2025
Charles J. Johnson, 71, of Neptune, peacefully fell asleep at home surrounded by family on August 5, 2025. Charles was born on November 12, 1953, in Neptune, New Jersey, to Thomas H. Johnson Sr. and Lucy Johnson.
A lifelong resident of Asbury Park and Neptune, he was predeceased by his father, Thomas H. Johnson Sr., and Lucy Johnson, and brothers William "Little Pop" Johnson and Thomas "Tom Tom" Johnson.
He leaves behind his loving wife of over 20 years, Gwendolyn, and his cherished daughters Dina, Armishia, Artreica, Artasia, and Armonie. He also leaves behind his beloved brother Robert "QT" Johnson, sister Edna Irizarry (husband Luis Irizarry), sister Petra "Peachie" Taylor, brother Antonio "Congo" Davila, and favorite niece Dana Lawerence. Charles was a proud grandfather to fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His memory will also be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Known affectionately as "Chuck," he was a hardworking man with a kind and generous spirit, always seeing the good in others. With his warm smile and sharp sense of humor, he could strike up a conversation with anyone and loved making people laugh.
Charles found joy in simple pleasures-watching westerns and watching his favorite sports teams. Charles became one of Jehovah's Witnesses, where he built strong and lasting friendships. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Brothers Cliffton Davis, Peter Sherman, Albert Wade, and Al Miles for their unwavering support and love during Charles's final moments.
He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
