Charles Kaiser Obituary

Charles Edward "Chuck" Kaiser Greenville - Chuck Kaiser, husband, father, and Pop Pop, went to be with the Lord on December 24, 2025 after a three-year battle with cancer. Born on October 5, 1952, in Beaufort, South Carolina.

Chuck's career at Norfolk Naval Shipyard spanned over 37 years. After retirement he went on to work at various places of employment. He was a Sunday School teacher for many years and loved studying the Bible.

A proud graduate of Indian River High School and the Apprentice Program at NNSY, Chuck carried with him the values of hard work and perseverance that he instilled in his children.

Chuck is lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 53 years, Lauretta (Laurie Burn) Kaiser, and their two children Stephanie Russell and Stephen Kaiser (Janice Ordanes). He was the proud Pop Pop to Cearra Russell and Liam Kaiser. He also leaves a brother Joe Kaiser (Lydia) and a sister Linda Greene (Donald), as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jacqueline Kaiser.

A celebration of life will be held on January 10, 2026 at First Christian Church of Elizabeth City (North Carolina). Services will begin at 1 pm with family receiving friends immediately after the service.

Arrangements by Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Online condolences may be expressed at www.smithfcs.com.

Yesterday

I am sad to hear of Chuck's death. We were friends from the 6th grade through the end of high school. I always respected Chuck and thought he was a great guy. We bonded over baseball and cars. He was competitive and diligent, and played a pretty good trumpet. I remember when he met Laurie, and how smitten he was. My condolences to her and the rest of their family.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Chuck when I rotated through the NNSY Service Group as part of my HR intern program. He was a great guy and I'm so sorry to learn of his illness & passing. Rest in peace my friend.
