Charles E. "Chuck" Leeper, 71, of Zeigler, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at S.I.H. Herrin Hospital.
Chuck worked as a Correction Officer for Statesville CC in Joliet, IL.
Chuck was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army.
Chuck was a friendly, fun-loving man that never meet a stranger. He loved serving God and spending time with his children & grandchildren. He loved to tinker in the garage.
Chuck married Sue Oakley on January 21, 1970 in Carterville, IL. She survives him in Zeigler, IL.
He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie & Jason Seddon of Benton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles & Julie Leeper II of Mulkeytown, IL and Carl & Eula Leeper of West Frankfort, IL; nine grandchildren, Shane Smith, Chelsea Kearney and her husband, Taylor, Brianna Smith, Brett Leeper, Ayden Leeper, Peyton Leeper, Tyler Leeper, Noah Leeper, and Hanna Leeper; great grandchild, Myles; four brothers, Carl Leeper of El Monte, Calif., Ronald Leeper of Herrin, Gary Leeper of Carbondale, and Phillip Leeper of GA.; two sisters, Linda Burgess of Herrin, and Christina Herrington of West Frankfort, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glen Leeper; and sister, Rebecca Gross.
Graveside Service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, at Herrin City Cemetery with Rev. David Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin. Interment will be at Herrin City Cemetery.
