Charles W. Leitzel, 77, of Richfield, passed away at 3:16 PM on Friday, January 31, 2025 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born on August 5, 1947 in Lewisburg, Union County, he is a son of the late Percy S. and Sara H. (Minium) Leitzel. On October 23, 1971, he married his surviving wife, Arlene R. (Hoffman) Leitzel, with whom he was blessed to share over 53 years of marriage before his passing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Troy C. Leitzel of Richfield, Traci Milton and her husband Kevin of Stewartstown, PA, and Trisha Hoffman and her husband Mark of Richfield; five grandchildren, Zachary Leitzel, Connor and Logan Milton, and Forest and Aspen Hoffman; one brother, Larry Leitzel; and one sister, Cheryl Troxell.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Leitzel, and a daughter in law, Georgiana (Snyder) Leitzel.
Mr. Leitzel was a 1965 graduate of Middleburg Joint High School.
In earlier life, Charles began farming for local area farms, after which he then was employed by various sawmills and last retired from Apple's Fruit Farm in Richfield.
His memberships included being a very active member with Richfield Life Ministries Church, the Richfield Fire Company No. 9, and also served on the Richfield Cemetery Board.
He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who spent many hours in the mountains. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and taught them about the outdoors.
In recent years, he and his wife continued spending time serving others, walking, playing Carrom, exploring the area on their Ranger, cutting firewood, spending time at their cabin, and praying together for family members.
Funeral Services will be held at the Richfield Life Ministries Church, 167 Church St., Richfield on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Minister Ryan Maneval officiating. Interment will follow at Richfield Union Cemetery.
