Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clements Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc - Durham on Mar. 5, 2026.
DURHAM- Charles Samuel Lloyd, 91, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Hock Family Pavillion surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Granville County to the late Thomas Clyde Lloyd and Irene Mangum Lloyd. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Carl Lloyd and Robert Lloyd; sisters, Janie O'Brien and Mildred Wilson.

Charles (also known as Charlie to his buddies and "Pops" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren) was a lifelong hardworking man who was a welder, pipefitter and boiler repairman. If there was anything that was broken, he could fix it. He was a lifelong passionate Tar Heel fan and was an avid golfer, playing for many years with his buddies at Willowhaven Country Club (now Umstead Pines). He made 6 hole-in-one's with the last 2 coming on consecutive days. He was a proud Past Master and longtime member of Durham Masonic Lodge 352. He was also a Scottish Rite and Shriner.

Mr. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Betty Reaves Lloyd; daughters, Judy Costabile (John) and Lynn Yarboro (Donald); sons Sammy Lloyd (Angela) and Danny Lloyd (Mandy); grandchildren, Jason Jeffcoat (Teresa), Brandy Punt (Kevin) Sandy Marshall (Aaron), Matthew Yarboro (Natasha), Cameron Yarboro, Nicholas Lloyd, Katy Parson (Gil), Meredith Lloyd (Leila), Lindsay Ferguson (Chad), Madison Lloyd (Graham Miller); sister, Marie Wilson; and 7 great grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks and recognition to the "Angels" at Duke HomeCare & Hospice, in particular his special Angels, April and Kate.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Duke HomeCare & Hospice, 12 Moore Drive, Suite 200, Durham, NC 27713 or Masonic Home for Children, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
