Ossian/Dansville- Charles Hugh "Charlie" Lowrey age 89, passed away early Thursday afternoon June 22, 2023, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
He was born in Groveland NY on June 15, 1934, a son of the late James Sherman and Helen Nancy (Sawdey) Lowrey. On July 31, 1954, he was married to Beverly (Brown) Lowrey, who predeceased him on Oct. 26, 2012. On July 13, 2013, he married his second wife Lori Pallmann Lowrey who survives. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Nellie, Carrie, Anna Mary, Sarah Jane, William, and Edward.
Charlie was a mechanic all his life starting as a young man in Rochester for a car dealership and then coming to Dansville to work for Molyneux Brothers. He eventually started his own garage in Ossian, Charlie's Auto Repair. He then operated under the Ashland Brand on Milton Street in Dansville. Later he moved his business back to the Town of Ossian and eventually changed the name to Lowrey's Auto Repair. He continued towing until he was 81. He attended Dansville Foursquare Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife Lori, are his children, Doug Lowrey of Leicester, Dan (Isabella) Lowrey of Hartsville, SC and Darla (David) Schwingel of Henrietta; Lori's children, Penny (Mario) Puorro, Tammy (Harley) May both of Canisteo, Lindsay (Lee) Wilson of Dansville and Lana (Ben) Webb of Great Britain; twenty grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 pm at the Dansville Foursquare Church. Interment will be in Ossian Center Cemetery, Ossian. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
