Charles Edward "Ed" Malinski Jr., age 68, of Du Quoin, Illinois, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Herrin Hospital.
He was born Monday, February 6, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of Charles Edward and Helen (Szczeblewski) Malinski. He married Lorie Anne Newborn. Together they have shared nine years of marriage. She survives in Du Quoin.
Ed enjoyed spending time on the water, fishing and enjoying the beauty of nature. As a talented drywall finisher and proud Union worker, Ed took immense pride in his craft, always striving for perfection. His skills as a "fixer" were unmatched, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Ed was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. But above all, Ed was a family man. He adored his loved ones, and would do anything to support and protect them. His devotion of love, hard work, and devotion will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife- Lorie Anne (Newborn) Malinski of Du Quoin; daughter- Jessica (Darren Hiller) Saul of Du Quoin; step-son- Josh Knight; grandchildren- Chaz (Kerri) Bland, Tristen Presswood, Madelyn Saul, and Alex Johnson; great grandchildren- Ava Bland and Kingston Hall; sister- Barbara (Bill) Wanger; brother- David (Tracy) Malinski; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew- Gerald Weeks.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter- Andrea Smith, sister- Vickie Malinski, brother- Ronald "Ronnie" Malinski, and step-daughter- Lacie Knight.
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate the life Charles Edward Malinski, Jr. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home; 11 South Hickory Street in Du Quoin. During this time, we encourage you to share your favorite memories and stories of Ed's life. Your presence and reflections will be a comfort to the family as they navigate this difficult time.
Private burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Ed's funeral care fund at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home to help the family with Ed's final expenses. To make an online donation, click the donation tab on Ed's obituary page. All payments will go directly to the funeral home to help the family in their time of such loss.
