Charles L. “Lee” McDonald, age 75, passed away November 12, 2025, at his home in Boulder City, NV with family at his side. He was born December 21, 1949, in Denver, Colorado to Eileen and Charles Bender, and was later blessed with a devoted stepfather, Ross McDonald.

Lee married Linda (Jasmer) McDonald on March 21, 1981, in Las Vegas, and together they raised two children, Johanna (McDonald) Kugler and Frederick “Fritz” McDonald, later welcoming their favorite in-laws, Matt Kugler and Erika McDonald. His greatest joy was being “A Papa” to his five grandchildren: Lilia, Lars, Kenneth, Claire, and Caroline.

Lee grew up in Colorado, Arizona, and Tempiute, Nevada, where his childhood adventures helped shape the curiosity and humor he carried throughout life. After attending Twin Lakes Elementary, Hyde Park Junior High, and Western High School, he graduated in the first class of Clark High School. He went on to earn his degree from UNLV, later returning as a photography Professor.

During his 15 years with the News Bureau, Lee covered more than 1,200 shows along the Las Vegas Strip, photographed four U.S. presidents, countless stars, and documented some of the most iconic moments in the city’s history. Lee later opened his own photography business, which grew into a highly respected studio, lab, and photographic service. For more than 35 years, he worked with worldwide corporate clients, every hotel on the Strip and downtown, and numerous companies throughout the region. His photographs appeared in more than 40 magazines across Scandinavia and Germany. Though widely accomplished, Lee remained genuinely amazed by the success of his career.

Lee was a true craftsman, building two homes and two cars, and a passionate traveler who explored Alaska, Hawaii, and many of Europe’s most memorable cities with Linda by his side.

Lee found a deep love and support from his LDS community. Above all else, he loved his wife, cherished his children, and adored his grandchildren; his life was truly blessed. His humor, creativity, storytelling, and deep love for those around him will be dearly missed.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, at the LDS Church, 916 5th St., Boulder City, NV 89005. A late luncheon will follow. All are welcome to join.

Flowers can be ordered from A Country Rose 702-275-1727.
