On October 28, 1969, a bubbling baby boy was born in Ft. Pierce, FL to Charles McGriff and Barbara Jean Darrisaw. They named him Charles McGriff, Jr. Charles was later joined by eight brothers and sisters.
Charles called by his family as Little Charles attended the schools of Indian River County, Rosewood Elementary, Gifford Middle, Vero Beach Junior High and Vero Beach High School, graduating with the "Class of 1987". After graduation he attended the Indian River Community College.
Charles was a people person with a bubbly personality.
Charles received his early Christian education at the Church of Christ Holiness Unto the Lord in Wabasso, FL under the pastorship of the late Elder Andrew Lewis. Later the family moved their membership to the Faith Temple Evangelistic Church, in Gifford, FL under the leadership of Elder James J. Bradley, Sr., pastor and the late Mother Martha N. Bradley, where he was a member of the choir and a Sunday School student.
Charles was previously employed with the Indian River Memorial Hospital now known as Cleveland Clinic and the Press Journal.
Charles later relocated to Brooklyn, NY, with his uncle Carl Darrisaw, where he was employed with different mail delivering services in Manhattan and also in Elizabeth City, NJ. Later he relocated to back to Florida then Georgia and to Denver, CO. where he resided until his demise on April 29, 2025
Charles is preceded in death by an older sister, a brother, Mantriel La'Mon McGriff; nephew, Ethan Schofield; his grandparents, Aristell and Willie Mae Roberson Darrisaw, George and Annie Lou Garrison McGriff; brother-in-law, Andre DeShon Schofield; special cousins, Edgar Carter, Andre Carter and Gloria Ann Lewis.
Charles leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Marcus McGriff, Orlando, FL and Damien Priest, Vero Beach, FL; parents Charles and Barbara McGriff, Vero Beach; sisters, Wauketa McGriff, Vero Beach, Stephanie McGriff, Daytona Beach, FL, Melinda (Xavier) Lawrence and Vanessa McGriff, both of Vero Beach; brothers, Anrico (Vanessa) McGriff, Cornelius (Kizzy) McGriff, both of Vero Beach and Joshua McGriff of Daytona Beach, FL; thirteen nieces, eleven nephews; aunts; Helen Carter, Ft. Pierce, Mary Lou (Esrom) Dorsett, Regina Hart, of Vero Beach Debra Darrisaw, GA; a special cousin/aunt, Missionary Bertie Elizabeth Ferguson, Amherst, NY; cousin, LaDonna Cromartie, Vero Beach; uncles, Dan (Joycelyn), Carl (Hannah) Darrisaw, Ronald (Janice), Ricky McGriff all of Vero Beach, William (Jane) Darrisaw of Ft. Mills, SC and Gary McGriff, FL; a host of grand nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
