Charles Devlin (Dev) McKeown II
November 2, 1955 – December 19, 2024
Charles Devlin McKeown II, lovingly known as "Dev" or "Devlin", passed away suddenly on December 19, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on November 2, 1955, in Washington D.C., Devlin lived a life filled with love for his family, reading, and history.
Devlin was preceded in death by his parents, Charles D. McKeown and Barbara M. McKeown. He is survived by his cherished family: his brother Richard A. McKeown and his wife Georgia McKeown of Ormond Beach, FL; his sister Therese Brewer of Crescent City, FL; niece Shannon Brown and her children, Noah and Mimi, of Flagler Beach, FL; and his brother Michael W.J. McKeown and his wife Tracy McKeown of Crescent City, FL. Devlin's goddaughter, Marie Ruggiero, also held a special place in his heart.
A 1974 graduate of Buchholz High School, Devlin proudly service his country as a Fire Control Technician in the U.S. Navy from 1975 – 1979. Following his service, he earned an Associate of Arts degree from Santa Fe Community College in 1981.
Devlin's professional life was dedicated to his role as a sales associate with Walmart, but his passions extended far beyond work. He was a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins, an avid reader, and a history enthusiast. He found joy in playing military strategy war games, collecting miniatures and various weapons, and spending time with his beloved cats. Devlin also enjoyed savoring the finer things in life, including a good story of family history or anything to do with history while smoking a fine cigar with a glass of Jameson.
Though quiet and reserved, Devlin's love for his family and his thoughtful nature left an indelible mark on those who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, 1185 W. Granada Blvd. #11, in Ormond Beach, FL. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor and remember a man who will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
Rest in peace, Dev. Your memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved you.
