Charles Dee Meiser, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at the age of 85. Born in Springfield, Ohio on December 14, 1940, Charles was a man whose life was marked by dedication and unwavering commitment to his family and community.
For 37 years, Charles served as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service, walking the streets of his neighborhood with a smile and a warm greeting for everyone he met. He loved the simple joys of his work and relished the opportunity to connect with others, often bringing a touch of light to their day with his kind heart and cheerful demeanor.
As a boy, Charles fell in love with basketball and played through high school and junior college. He also became an avid fan of softball and played for the majority of his adult life, continuing to play in the church league at age 60.
Charles shared an incredible 60 years of love and companionship with his beloved wife, Shirley Jean Douglas Meiser. Theirs was a partnership built on mutual respect, laughter, and countless beautiful memories, a testament to the enduring power of love. Together, they built a family rich in love and values that will carry on through generations.
He is survived by a sister, Marsha (Bill) Vincent. He was the proud father of three wonderful children: Charles Douglas (Erika) Meiser, Kristi (Carlie) Williams, and Elizabeth (Brian) Thomas. Each of them felt their father's unwavering support and was shaped by his wisdom, kindness, and strength. Charles took great joy in watching his family grow, delighted by the arrival of his eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His legacy will live on in them, as they carry forward his spirit and gentleness.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Milo Meiser and Bonnieta Elva Rankin Meiser, whose love and guidance laid the foundational values Charles would later instill in his own family.
As we gather to remember and celebrate the remarkable life of Charles Dee Meiser, we are reminded that his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who loved him. May his legacy of kindness and compassion inspire us as we move forward, united in the love he so freely shared.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Charles will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Manatee Baptist Church, 1501 7th Ave. E. Bradenton, FL 34208 where he was an active member for over 60 years, was a Sunday School teacher, the church treasurer, and also served as Chairman of the Deacons.
