Waynesville, Charles “Billy Boy” Messer, 73, passed away on September 29, 2023, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native of Haywood County and son of the late Anna Karis Kerley Leatherwood. In addition to his mother, Charles is proceeded in death by his Grandmother Edna Nichols Kerley; one sister Darlene Franklin; and a special friend Pam Wilson.
Bill was an entrepreneur and enjoyed helping people. He was an active member of the Moose Lodge. Spending time with his family, his granddaughter Bayli and his dog Chief.
Bill is survived by one daughter Kari Kirkpatrick; two sisters Diane Messer and Carrie Arrington (Bryan) and one brother Ronnie Inman. Bill is also survived by three grandchildren; Bayli McMahan, Ethan Kirkpatrick and Makina Kirkpatrick.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2023 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Kenneth Rhinehart officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to services.
