It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Messer on March 7, 2026. Jeff was born on March 7, 1957, in Dixon, Illinois. He passed away from natural causes in his Freeport home.
Jeff attended Polo Community High School, spent a brief time in the U.S. Marine Corps, and later graduated from ITT Technical Institute in 1987. He worked various jobs as a computer technician, audio/video technician, a binding machine operator at Kable Printing, and handyman. He retired at a young age due to serious health issues, and was grateful to the Lord to have survived 2 open heart surgeries in 2002 and 2017.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Messer; stepfather, Donald Olson; brother, Gerald Messer; and sister-in-law, Susan (Jack) Messer.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Olson of Polo; a son, Jeremy Messer of the state of Oregon; brother, John Messer of Dixon; sisters, Loree (Richard) Brooks of Dixon and Donna Olson of Machesney Park; brother, Dennis Olson of Dixon; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Polo Area Senior Center, 101 E. Mason St., Polo, IL. A cremation burial will be held at a later date.
