Charles Mette, age 60, of Springfield Township, Ohio, passed away suddenly on June 26, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Fairfield in Fairfield, Ohio. Born March 31, 1965, in Cincinnati.
A graduate of Clermont Northeastern high school, Charles was proud of his roots and remained close to his community. He was known for his quiet strength, reliability, and the deep loyalty he showed to those he cared for. Charles had a career as a diesel mechanic for Ryder Trucking for over 38 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Victor Mette and Florence (Bailey). Charles leaves behind his devoted companion, Kelli Coffey of Springfield Township, who stood faithfully beside him and now carries his memory with enduring love. Loving father to Alivia, Benton and Dually. Cherished brother of Henry, John (Beverly) Andy and Tabby (Rob). Very special grandson to Geraldine. Longtime neighbor of Cathy Schalck.
Charles always had a smile in any situation. That smile could light up a room. Charles was always there when you needed him. He tried to see the light in any situation even if you couldn't. Charles was also known for his quick wit, his ability to inject humor into any situation. He loved to laugh and make others laugh as well. He would give you the shirt off his back if he knew you were in need.
Charles was a master mason and belonged to the Washington lodge. He had a love for cars, racing, helping people, animals, tractor shows and flea markets. He enjoyed watching Alivia ride horses and playing video games with Ben, spending time with family and friends and dad jokes!
Visitation will be on Tuesday July 1st at 5:00 pm. with the funeral service at 7 pm, at Strawser Funeral Home 9503 Kenwood Road in Blue Ash, Ohio. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hartzell United Methodist Church. Online condolences at www.strawserfuneralhome.com
Charles will be remembered for his unassuming nature, his steady heart, and the understated yet lasting impact he made on those who knew him. His life reminds us that dignity is often found in the quiet places-in the loyalty of a companion, the memories of a hometown, and the strength of a name well lived.
As a family, we encourage you to hug your loved ones tight. We will miss Charles hugs that made you feel like everything would be right in the world in the world when you let go.
