Charles William Morton, age 79, of Monroeville, passed away January 12, 2023 at Bethlehem Woods Nursing Home, Fort Wayne. Chuck was born in Bardstown, Kentucky on August 10, 1943 to the late William Sale Morton and Mary Mildred (Riley) Morton. He grew up in Northern Kentucky.
He joined the United States Army and began to travel the world. The Army took him all over the world to places like Hawaii, Turkey, Germany, Korea just to mention a few. It was in 1968, in Frankfort, Germany, where he met his future wife, Renee Elly Maria Fievet and they were married April 2, 1968 soon after they met.
After 20 years in the military and having continued with his education during this time, he received his Master of Business Administration from New Mexico State University in 1984.
He taught at New Mexico State at their White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico Campus, and joined the Civil Service, working for the Army at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.
In 1990 he was transferred to a Civil Service position in Germany and returned to the US in 2000 to take a position at the Pentagon. He is a 9/11 survivor of the Pentagon. His office was destroyed, fortunately he was not in it at the time.
Chuck retired from the Civil Service in 2006 and, along with his wife, Renee, became a full-time RVer. Together they visited all 50 states, most of the Canadian provinces and Mexico. When Chuck was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, they sold the RV and settled in Indiana to be closer to their son, Michael.
Survivors include:
Wife, Renee Morton of Monroeville.
Son, Michael Morton and his fiancé, Rhonda Burk both of Monroeville.
Grandchildren: Katja Morton of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Keith Morton of Monroeville.
Sister, Kathryn Lawson of Falmouth, Kentucky.
