Charles Edward Murphy, 93, of Sunbury, passed over peacefully on June 6, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 5, 1931 to Frank Moreland Murphy and Mary Agnes Julick Murphy in Dayton, Ohio.
Chuck was a 1950 graduate of Aquinas College High School in Columbus. He then went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Coast Guard on a lightship in Woods Hole, Massachusetts from 1951 - 1954. He was a man of tremendous faith, being one of the founding members of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Sunbury. He was also key to the founding of St. John Neumann's Men's Club and their twice yearly flea market, raising funds for the parish.
Chuck was a proud retiree of the U.S. Post Office. He was an avid gardener and was always working on some type of project around the house. In later years, he was the most devoted caregiver to his love, Suzanne.
Preceded in death by his parents, his beautiful wife, Suzanne, brother Jim and grandson, Daniel Brooks. Charles is survived by his children Joan (Mike) Snow, Matt (Lisa), Jane (Mark) Reissig, Joe (Patti), Mary (Mark) Brooks, 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed!
