Charles Lynn Nevill Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 1, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born on August 7, 1946, in Longview, Texas, and was one of ten children born to Grady Elton Nevill Sr. and Maggie Mae Ellen Swinney Nevill.
Charles graduated from Pine Tree High School in 1965 and shortly thereafter joined the Air Force, serving his country with honor for four years. Following his military service, he pursued higher education at Stephen F. Austin University, and his career path eventually led him through roles at Winn-Dixie, Lone Star Steel, Stroh Brewery, a self-owned and operated lawn care business, and ultimately Kelly Springfield Tire Company, where he retired from in 2009. Beyond his professional achievements, Charles was known for his dedication to the people he loved. He enjoyed spending his free time meeting friends and family for coffee, watching various sports (he especially loved traveling to watch High School Football games), riding his bicycle on numerous trails around town, embarking on spontaneous road trips, and secretly performing random acts of kindness. Above all, he treasured every moment with his children and grandchildren, whom he fiercely loved, protected, and was always present for. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Maggie Nevill; brothers, Grady Nevill, Jr, Glenn Nevill, Dwight Nevill; sister, Ellen Louise Cole; and childhood friend, Charles "Chuck" Walker. He is survived by his favorite daughter, Charenda Nevill of Diana, Texas; his favorite son, CJ Nevill of Diana, Texas; his favorite granddaughter, Avery Cowan of Diana, Texas; his favorite grandson, Peyton Nevill of Diana, Texas; two brothers, Randy Nevill of New Boston, Texas and John (Karen) Nevill of Queen City, Texas; three sisters, Barbara Beall of Longview, Texas, Edna (Jim) McKillop of Longview, Texas, and Gwen (Rod) Seivley of Lake Cherokee, Texas; childhood friend, Reese (Michele) Schriver of Longview, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Heartis Senior living in Longview, Texas for being a part of his life for the last two years. CJ and Charenda would also like to extend a special thank you to his hospice nurse, LB, who loved and treated Charles like family. His dedication and compassion brought much needed comfort and peace to both Charles, as well as his children.
Charles Lynn Nevill Sr. will be remembered for his deep sense of generosity, his unwavering love for his family, and his profound willingness to help others in need. His legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
