Charles Russell "Charlie" Nicol

CHARLES RUSSELL NICOL,
67, of Deford, died following a brief illness Thursday, July 28, 2022 in McLaren Bay Region. He was born May 2, 1955 in Bad Axe, the second of nine children born to James Don and Marguerite June (Grigg) Nicol. He married Cheryl Lynn Raymond on September 29, 1979 in Elkton. She died September 22, 2021.
Charlie attended Kingston High School and then went straight to work. He was employed by Active Industries, working on the production line, which later became Tower Automotive in Elkton. Charlie retired just shy of forty-six years. In his younger years, he enjoyed working on cars in his garage with a Detroit Tiger game always on the radio. Charlie was skilled at working with his hands and especially woodworking. He made many dressers and jewelry boxes over the years. Charlie was also very fast at correctly completing a Rubik's Cube puzzle. Crossword puzzles, playing Euchre, and watching NASCAR races were some of his other favorite hobbies.
Charlie is survived by his daughter, Angel (Mike Landrum) Nicol of Deford; granddaughter, Molly Landrum; special nephew, Brandon Gerstenberger of Snover; sisters: Christine (Mark) Cummings of Deford, Brenda Blackwell of Deford; Tracy Nicol of Deford; brothers: Carl (Carol) Nicol of Cass City; David (Dominique) Nicol of Cass City; Mark (Jessica) Nicol of Rochester; brothers-in-law: David (Sandra) Raymond of Saginaw; Kim Raymond of Deford; Gregory Raymond of Caro; sister-in-law, Deborah Raymond of Cass City; many nieces and nephews; special long-time friends, Bob and Betty Sapien. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cheryl; brother, Alex Nicol; sister, Nancy Raymond; sister-in-law, Rosemary Raymond.
Memorial service held 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2022 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City with Sam Leppert, Funeral Service Celebrant and Mark Nicol officiating.
