Charles Thomas Parker, 81, of St. Charles, passed away on April 6, 2025, surrounded by his family after enduring several challenging years with Alzheimer's Disease. Tom was born on August 20, 1943, to Judge Charles S. Parker and Dolly (Lehwaldt) Parker in Woodstock, Illinois. He married Mary Azzaro in 1965, and they had one daughter, Angela Marie (Severino). After her accidental death, he married Margaret Boose of Elgin, Illinois, on December 30, 1972. They had two children, Tyson and Kristen (Leshinski). Tom is best known for his love of athletics, volunteer coaching, animals and his rescue efforts for strays, his teasing and sense of humor, the comradery of family gatherings and ongoing contact with his many life-long friends.
Tom graduated from Woodstock Community High School in 1962. He excelled in athletics and was inducted into the high school Hall of Fame for both track and football. He attended Western Illinois University and played football during his college career. Tom was a lifelong Packers fan and was even gifted some stock in the team. He loved watching the games while enjoying a beer and talking to family and friends.
Tom had a long career selling banking equipment throughout northern Illinois. In his free time, he enjoyed sporting events, working outdoors and attending the many extracurricular activities of his children and granddaughters. He loved teasing his granddaughters, taking them fishing, playing checkers with them and watching them perform in dance recitals and even on TV at football games. Tom would often give practical advice about any problem.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents Judge Charles Parker and Dolly Parker, his first wife, Mary Azarro, and his sister Linda Parker Flavin. He leaves behind his loving wife, Margaret of St. Charles, his children, Angela (Mike) Severino of Geneva, Tyson of Ohio, Kristen (Doug) Leshinski of St. Charles, three grandchildren, Madeline Severino of Chicago, Maria (Keith) Schroeder of Oswego and Julia Severino of Texas. He also leaves behind a brother John of Buffalo Grove, a sister Katharine (Steve) Grimes of St. Charles, three nieces, Heather Grimes, Genevieve Grimes, Linda (Steve) Condon, and three nephews, Neal Parker, Ethan Grimes and Parker Grimes.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 12 at twelve o'clock noon with a prayer service to follow at 1 P.M. at Yurs funeral home in St. Charles. Tom will be laid to rest at the Prairie Cemetery, St. Charles, following the service. Friends are also invited to meet for a beer at Duke's, a Packer bar in St. Charles, after 3 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Anderson Humane Shelter or the Alzheimer's Society.
