Charles Gordon Persall Jr.

CORDELE – Charles G. Persall, Jr., 87, passed away Wednesday night, June 21, 2023, at Crisp Regional Hospital. The family will have a memorial time at a later date.
He was born in Hatley, Ga., to the late Charles Gordon Persall, Sr. and the late Effie Dowdy Persall. He is preceded in death by his first wife, the mother of his children, Nancy Crist Persall. He is preceded in death by his second wife of 35 years, Mary Ann Anzalone who passed away Sept. 11, 2019. He is also preceded in death by his step-grandson, Tyler Parker.
He was a sports fan, especially car racing. When he was able in the past, he enjoyed being outdoors walking and was an active recreational vehicle enthusiast. He was a "Mr. Fix-it" and enjoyed tinkering.
He was a United States Naval veteran for six years. Following his time in Naval service, he was a mechanical Group Supervisor and later a Nuclear Coordinator in repairing nuclear submarines at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Valejo, CA.
He is survived by his wife of 2½ years: Diane Parker-Persall of Cordele; his children: Richard (Patty) Persall of Washington State, Phillip Persall of Washington State, and Teresa( Scott) Lund of Napa, CA.; and his sister Sarah Ann Christmas that followed him in death the next morning.
His surviving grandchildren are Daylon (Mandy) Persall, Michelle (Ian) Gilbert, Teresa (Scott) Lund, Jennifer (Jose) Garcia, and Jason (Jessica) Lund.
And his great-grandchildren surviving are Kennasyn Persall, Cash Persall, Cade Persall, Taylon Gilbert, Jamison Gilbert, Lucas Gilbert, Anisa Garcia, Angie Garcia, Aubrey Garcia, Niko Garcia, and Clayton Lund.
He is survived by step-children Cindy Anzalone and John Anzalone (Linda), step-grandchildren Jeremiah (Jennifer) Sanchez, Jessica (Jason) Alavez, Ciara (Luke)Johnson, Nicholas (Christina) Anzalone, step-great-grandchildren Connor, Sebastien Sanchez, Makai Zunina, Giovanni and Mila Alavez, Giana, Malakai and Micah Johnson, Hudson, and Emilia Anzalone.
And locally, he is survived by step-children: Daniel Eric Parker, J. Gary (Tina) Parker, and Kevin Wayne (Sheila) Parker; step-grandchildren: Colby (Kay) Parker, Tiffany Parker, Brison (Brianna) Parker, and Christy Parker; and his step-great-grandchildren: Macy Hogg, Eli Hogg, Aden Jackson, Alexander Hayden, Brantley Parker, Savannah Parker.
