CORDELE - Cricket Adkins, age 87, of Cordele, Ga., died Monday, April 7, 2025, at Crisp Regional Hospital.
Cricket was born in Melbourne Beach, Florida, July 13, 1937, to the late William Monroe Scarborough and the late Willie Ann Martin Scarborough. She lived most of her early life in Florida. This is where she developed her great love for the beach.
She served as the Crisp County Tax Commissioner for 20 years before retirement. Cricket enjoyed serving the community through her work. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Cordele. Cricket lived a long and fulfilling life. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
Besides her parents, Cricket was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Moody Cromer Adkins and her sister, Evelyn Fenley.
Cricket is survived by her son, Clint Adkins and his wife Kathleen of Cordele, Ga.; her grandchildren: Taylor C. Adkins of Key Largo, Fl. and Dakota S. Adkins and his wife Shelby and a great-grandchild Aubrey Adkins, all of Cordele, Ga. She is also survived by her brother Virgil Scarborough and his wife Gail of Ocala, Fl. as well as nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the chapel of Hughes and Wright Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Sunnyside Cemetery for those who would like to attend.
