It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bailey Gilbert Barfield, who left this world on April 26, 2025, at the age of 24. Visitation will be held at Hughes and Wright Funeral Home on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Gilbert Farm (970 Gilbert Road Vienna, Georgia 31092). A Celebration of Life will be held following the service at The Lazy B. The family requests casual dress only.
Bailey was born on December 17, 2000, in Cordele, Georgia, to David and Stacey Gilbert Barfield. Bailey was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Patsy B. Gilbert; his paternal grandfather, James Barfield; and honorary grandparent Mickey "Hotwire" Whitehead. He had a genuine passion for life that was evident to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Bailey was a proud graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business. His education prepared him for a fulfilling career at Simplot Grower Solutions.
Bailey had an immense appreciation for the outdoors and cherished his time farming and hunting. He was an avid and enthusiastic supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs. Bailey had a unique ability to connect with people, never meeting a stranger and always making friends wherever he went. He was the life of every gathering, with an infectious smile and a heart that held the best interest of others above his own.
He is survived by his parents: David and Stacey Gilbert Barfield; his maternal grandfather, Billy Gilbert; his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Harden Barfield; and honorary grandparents: Debbie "Smurf" Whitehead and Jerry and Elaine Odom.
