Harold Jean (Peanut) Barfield, age 71, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025 at his home who was the most loving & caring husband to his wife Tammie Patterson-Barfield for 45 years.
Peanut was born December 13, 1953, in Dillon County, South Carolina to the late Claude Brooks & Arnettie Herring Barfield. He retired from Renfro Corporation after 15 years, before that he worked at Kaywood Southern for 21 years until it shut down. He was an avid farmer that enjoyed sharing his bounty with friends and family, nothing pleased him more than watching his garden grow.
Peanut leaves behind his wife Tammie, his brothers Larry (Barbara) Barfield of Graham, NC, Joe Curtis (Gay) Barfield of Joanna, SC and his sister Bonny Kaye (Tony) Cowen of Latta, SC. He also leaves to cherish his memory, an adopted son in all since of the word; Jonah W. Buelin of Mt. Airy, N.C., and many other adopted children, sister in laws, relatives, including numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 6 sisters and 3 brothers: Helen Hulon, Claudia Nell (Siddie) Sanders, Edna Faye (Tootie) Lollis, Joyce (Short) Woodberry, Lynette Jackson, Wanda Gail Berry, Jerry Brooks Barfield, Billy Ray Barfield, & Daniel Lee Barfield.
The family wishes to express many THANKS, VIA Heath (Hospice of Laurens County, S.C.) for taking such wonderful care of Peanut and his family in this hour of need.
A Memorial service will be held at Clinton First Pentecostal Holliness Church, 403 Academy Street, Clinton SC on Saturday October 4, 2025, at 3:00 PM with Rev. Mark Entrekin and Mr. Jonah Buelin officiating. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service at the church.
