Charles Thomas Phillips, Sr., age 93, of Cowpens, SC passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the Upstate Community Hospice House. He was born on November 7, 1929 in Cherokee County, a son of the late Doctor Crawley Phillips and Flora Spencer Phillips. He was married to the late Jo Anne Moss Phillips.
Charles was retired from Best Machinery Company and he loved gardening. He was a US Army Veteran during the Korean War.
Survivors include four children, Leatha Phillips, of the home, Laurie Easler (David) of Spartanburg, SC, and Melanie Harris of Cowpens, SC., and Charles Thomas "Chad" Phillips Jr., (Sherrie) of Gaffney, SC; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother Billy Phillips of Boiling Springs, SC.
Charles was also predeceased by eight brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, April 21, 2023 at Cowpens First Baptist Church, 108 W. Church St., Cowpens, SC 29330, conducted by the Rev. Kermit Morris and the Rev. Nathan Dye. Interment will follow in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens, 175 Cemetery Street, Cowpens, SC 29330.
Memorials may be made to the Upstate Community Hospice House, 260 Fairwinds Drive, Landrum, SC 29356 and Mobile Meals, P O Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304 or online at www.mobile-meals.org/donate
The family will be at the home.
