Charles Herbert Pitts

Charles Hebert Pitts Sr. was born in South Carolina to Abraham and Addie Pitts on June 4th, 1941. He grew up a country boy who loved his family and the outdoors. Charles met Rachael Sue Davis on a blind date at a cafeteria in Atlanta Georgia. They eloped shortly after in 1960. He always said he knew instantly she was the love of his life. They were married for 60 years until her passing in 2021. Charles H. Pitts Sr. had two sons: Charles H. Pitts Jr. and Marty D. Pitts. Grandchildren and great grandchildren would eventually come along making life even sweeter with every birth. Charles loved nothing more than family, he especially loved babies.
Charles H. Pitts Sr. passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, May 31st, 2024, at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Rachael Sue Pitts, and all his siblings; Grace Florine, Ralph, Raymond Joe, Virginia Blanche, Able Grant Jr., Nancy Ruth, Edna May, Thomas Eugene, and John David.
Charles is survived by his two sons, Charles H. Pitts Jr, (Chuck) and Marty D. Pitts. As well as nine grandchildren; Jennifer Parker, Chance Philips, Savannah Kurtz, Bailey Pitts, Luke Pitts, Sophie Pitts, Jack Pitts, Charlie Pitts, and Fletcher Pitts. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Charlize Parker, Wyatt Parker, Keegan Parker, Gunner Pitts, Garrison Pitts, Grayson Pitts, and Tatum Kurtz.
Charles was an amazing example of a man, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved to help people, he could fix anything, he never met a stranger and even animals knew what a sweet spirit he had. He had a love for the outdoors and hunting that will live on through his children and grandchildren. He taught so many skills to so many people from welding to cake baking, to car repair to growing beans. He left shoes that no one can fill. He will truly be missed.
His graveside service will be held on Monday, June 3rd, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park.
