July 13, 1933 – September 5, 2025
Chuck Prochnow, age 92 of Vancouver, Washington passed away peacefully in his
home September 5, 2025.
Chuck was born in Yakima Washington to Wilma and Leonard Prochnow. His early life
was spent on his family's apple orchard before going away to college at Washington
State University in Pullman, Washington, earning a degree in Agricultural Science. After
serving in the Army, Chuck returned home to Yakima where he met the love of his life,
Grace. After Chuck and Grace married, they moved to Vancouver, Washington where
they raised a family and spent the rest of their lives together.
While in Vancouver, Chuck worked for Stauffer Chemical Company as a research
representative. He then changed careers and owned Chuck's Goodyear Tire and Auto
Service Center. He worked there until he retired.
Chuck's interests included travel, singing in the church choir, camping with his friends
(aka "The Raisin Crowd"), being a member of the Rotary Club, and volunteering for the
Red Cross. He was a member of the Red Cross Disaster Relief team, spending time in
New York for the 9/11 disaster, and helping people in the Vancouver area.
His life was defined by service: Service to his family, his friends, his church, his
community, and to God. He provided this service with joy and pride that touched the
people and organizations he served.
Chuck is survived by his daughter Tamara Baldwin of Florissant, Colorado. He is also
survived by his son Eric Prochnow, and two grandsons Matthew and Nicholas, all of St.
Helen's, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his wife Grace.
