Charles Ray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chapel Memorial Funeral Home - Waterbury on Nov. 13, 2024.
Mr. Charles Ray Jones, 76, of West Haven, CT, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 2, 2024. He was the widower to Beverly Marie (Diggs) Jones.
"Charles Ray", as he was affectionately known, was born on Monday, June 14, 1948, in Greenville, NC the son to the late James Alondus and Exline (Mouning) Jones.
At a very young age, he along with his family moved to Danbury, CT where Charles Ray attended Danbury Public schools. He worked odd jobs as a young man, including in several factories. He became a young father before settling down and marrying Beverly Marie Jones, the love of his life. From this union, there were four children.
Charles Ray always had a cool demeanor – but if you rubbed him the wrong way, you'd see his "other" side. He was very much into fashion – he prided himself on being "clean" from head-to-toe. He also loved to dance and sing. He was very good with his hands – he could fix or assemble anything. He had an eye for creativity and creating things from scratch. He was a people's person, full of charm and wit – and classic ladies' man. He was unabashedly a mama's boy who loved his mother dearly. He adored his family. Spending time with loved ones was always a priority.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Kesha Jones (Dexter) Bennett of Baltimore, MD, Charles Ray "CJ" Jones, Jr. of Waterbury, CT, Alondus (Shirret) Jones of Paterson, NJ, Anthony Spruill, of Waterbury, CT, Derrick Mayo, of East Hartford, CT, Jason Moore, of Bridgeport, CT, and Tiwana Marie Brown, of Danbury, CT; two sisters, Geri Jones Robinson, of Egg Harbor City, NJ, and Linda Jones Lipford, of West Haven CT; one brother Luther Mourning, of Greenville, NC; one uncle Hail "Herman" Mouning, of Danbury, CT; grandchildren Destiny Bennett, Skylar Bennett, Janaia Blizzard, Ashanti Jones, Nasir Jones, Adrian Jones, Zyaira Jones, Tziah Harris, Denejia Harris, Kaylynn Beamon, Ariah Beamon, Tommy Beamon, Jr., Amaya Jones, Tra'Von Mayo, Jeremiah Barnes, Matthew Moore, Destiny Porter-Moore, Angel Moore, and Donald Stokes, Jr; two great-grandchildren, Normani Davis and Keleis Graham, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Charles Ray was predeceased by one daughter; Juanita Jones, one granddaughter; Adria Jones; sisters; Robena Mouning Moore, Bessie Mae Jones, Polly Readus, and Ann Doris Jones, one brother; James Robert Jones, one sister-in-law; two brothers-in-law, six aunts, and three uncles.

My uncle will be missed deeply. Uncle Charles Ray loved family. He was always around willing to help for whatever the reason. I remember when I was young, he was one of the main drivers for his mother, as my grandmother was blind. He would always take me on trips w-them and tell me stories during the ride, mystical stories. I cherish your memory uncle. Love you always , Veronica
