Charles A. Register, 58, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the Margaret Dozier House. He was a long-time Tallahassee native, born on December 9, 1963, in Tallahassee, Florida at the TMH Hospital that his maternal grandfather help build in the late 1940's.
Charles was a 1981 Graduate of Lincoln High School and was a dedicated member of the Varsity Lincoln Trojans football team.
He received his Associate of Arts degree from Tallahassee Community College, along with certificates in the areas of Machinist, HVAC, and Networking at Lively Technical School. He was also a highly skilled and talented carpenter and enjoyed making and restoring woodwork. His picnic tables were purchased and placed at the "Sweet Shop' on the FSU Campus with a plaque identifying him as the craftsman. Several were also placed at city parks in Tallahassee.
Charles is preceded in death by his father, Charles D. Register; maternal grandmother and grandfather, Lillian and Artis Yarbrough; paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Helen Backenstoss; Buck and Eva Register; uncle, Randy Yarbrough; and a great aunt, Alice Lane.
He was the beloved son of Penny Mostyn (Ken) and Gilbert N. Backenstoss. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Michele Cross (Wayne); niece, Madison Cook; aunt, Judy Miller; and numerous cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make charitable donations to the Big Bend Hospice.
