Charles Riddle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Higgins Funeral Home - Fayetteville on Dec. 10, 2025.
Charles Gregory "Greg" Riddle, of Lynchburg, TN, passed away on December 9, 2025. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 5:30 PM until 8:30 PM at Higgins Funeral Home. A private burial will take place at Lynchburg Cemetery.

Greg was born in Fayetteville, TN, on May 21, 1961, to Bobby E. and June W. Riddle. He grew up in Fayetteville and graduated in 1979 as a member of the last class of Central High School. Football was one of Greg's greatest early passions, a love that stayed with him throughout his life.

He attended UT and later Tennessee Tech, studying engineering. After college, Greg spent several years working alongside Paul Bredin at Landscaping Concepts before beginning a long career with TDOT in the Belfast office, where he served for more than 20 years. He took great pride in his work on the I-840 project from I-65 to I-40, as well as the Highway 231 project connecting Murfreesboro to I-24. Greg completed his engineering career with Wright Paving, where he especially valued the challenges of the Highway 64 project from Fayetteville to Kelso and The Avenues of Murfreesboro.

To know Greg was to know his deep love for the land and his family. His greatest joy was spending time working on the family farm in Champ, TN, and being with his children, who were the heart of his life.

Greg found his perfect match when he met and married Michelle Tyler Riddle. They changed each other's lives in every good way. She was the love of his life, his grounding, and his peace. They cherished doing life together.

Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Michelle Riddle; his children, Stone, Boone, Grey, and Lucy Riddle; and his stepsons, Michael, Kris, and Zach King. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby E. Riddle (2013); his mother, June White Riddle (2019); and his uncle, Kenneth Riddle.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial Processing, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
