Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southern Indiana ChapelCharles William Rightnour, 87, of New Pekin, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025. Charles was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of American Legion Post 204 and a life time member of VFW Post 3281.
He was born on February 18, 1938 in Duncansville, Pennsylvania to the late Thomas Rightnour and Anna Regina (Gill) Rightnour. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his fiancée and companion who he loved dearly, Marion Durham; former wife, Violet Rightnour; and bingo buddy, Carol Howard; brothers, Leon and Clifford Rightnour; and sister, Rosella Cafiero.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Starr L. Pavey; son, Charles T. (Kennette) Rightnour; grandchildren, Amanda (Kevin) Sorrels, Charlie Nicole (Brad) Blankenship, Christian (Olivia) Rightnour, Jennifer Bush, Randy Atwood who he enjoyed playing cards with; and great-grandchildren, Annie Watson, Remington Coakley, Zyra Sorrels, Hunter Coakley, Coltyn Blankenship; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his adopted family who helped take care of him and he loved dearly, Robert and Heather Hicks and Conor and Michael McCaffrey. He was also survived by his precious cat, Fish, who wouldn’t leave his side.
Cremation was chosen following Charles' wishes and he will be laid to rest at Edwardsville (Tunnel Hill) Cemetery on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 12:00 pm with military honors.
