Charles N. "Chip" Rosenecker

No longer bound by the chains of Alzheimer’s, Charles N. “Chip” Rosenecker, of Fayetteville, WV, entered his eternal rest on March 1, 2026, at Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown. He was born in Kingston, PA, on August 9, 1938, the son of the late Charles F. Rosenecker and Mildred Decker Rosenecker.

“Chip” was a 1956 graduate of Fayetteville High School and a 1962 graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He also completed his master’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1996.

Chip was a devoted member of the St. Peter and Paul Catholic church in Oak Hill, WV.

He had many diverse and unique interests throughout his life. He loved watching movies, especially at movie theatres where he learned at a young age how to run the movie projectors. He continued this passion of running projectors throughout his life in many areas throughout West Virginia and Virginia.

Chip played the trumpet and led his own dance band which performed all over the tri-state area in the 1960s and 70s. They played jazz and pop music for dances and other events. It was called the “Chuck Rosen Quartet” and sometimes it was the “Quintet.” His band performed backups for Tiny Tim and other famous musical acts that came to Morgantown. Playing music was one of his greatest joys in life.

After completing his bachelor’s degree, he began his professional career as an engineer at the Bureau of Mines in Morgantown. He worked there for many years and then decided to pursue running his own business. Chip was a pioneer in computer sales, services and programming in the state of WV. He began writing programs back in the 1960s and continued writing code well into his retirement years.

He was never afraid of hard work or the adventure of learning new things. In 1993, Chip decided to expand his professional knowledge by going back to graduate school at WVU. He completed his master’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1996 which was many years after earning his bachelor’s degree. His master’s thesis focused on mining applications. He was very proud of his work in developing the systems, production and materials used in the coal mining industry throughout West Virginia. He also enjoyed tinkering, repairing and building things, especially electronics. Much to others’ dismay, he had peculiar collections of defunct computers, old TVs, printers, VCRs, boom boxes and plenty of other stuff that no one else would want. They were his treasures!

Chip enjoyed spending time with his family even though he often fell asleep on the couch after dinner. He particularly looked forward to visiting his grandchildren. He was very proud of their many accomplishments. His sense of humor was quick, dry and witty. He loved telling “Dad Jokes” and sometimes none of us “got” the joke. His brilliant mind often left the rest of us in the dust.

Chip is survived by his beloved sister, Mary Theresa Rosenecker with whom he made his home in Fayetteville. Also surviving are his two children, Charles H. “Chuck” Rosenecker (wife Rae Anne Hogan) of Morgantown and Lora Anne Ometz (husband David) of Manassas, VA; four grandchildren, Rachel Anne Ometz, Colin H. Rosenecker, Daniel J. Ometz and Charles D.” Charlie” Rosenecker. He is also survived by his former wife, Margaret Ann Rosenecker of Morgantown.

He was predeceased by his parents.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and compassionate caregivers at Sundale Nursing Home. We will never forget their kindness and care.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will occur at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 7, 2026 with Rev. Jojan Joseph officiating. Inurnment will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill.

Friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Alzheimer’s association, Alz.org, or to the Knights of Columbus Food Pantry of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Oak Hill.
