Charles Leo Roth of Defiance, Missouri, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born on August 24, 1934, in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, to the late John and Theresa Roth.
Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose faith guided every part of his life. A member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church since 1960, Charles was deeply involved in his parish community and proudly served with the Knights of Columbus.
A proud veteran, Charles honorably served his country during the Korean War, where he worked as a mechanic. Following his service, he moved to the St. Louis area, where he began his career with General Motors and later worked at the Mallinckrodt Energy Plant. He eventually found his calling as a meat cutter, a profession he enjoyed for over 25 years before retiring.
Charles had a lifelong love of the outdoors and took great joy in gardening, hunting, fishing, and keeping a beautiful yard. He was also an avid fan of stock car racing. Above all, Charles cherished time spent with his family. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his loved ones-especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he adored.
He is survived by his five children, Gregory (Calise Thompson) Roth, Kelly Roth, Barbara (Richard) Roth-Sondermann, Stephanie (Guy) Baryo, Christopher (Julie) Roth; seven grandchildren, Teresa Keune, Katherine Sondermann-Dziadura, Nicholas Sondermann, Aidan Baryo, Charlotte Baryo, Allison Roth, and Mackenzie Roth; two great-grandchildren, Cora and Margaret Keune; and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, John Roth, mother, Theresa Roth neé Bauman, his beloved wife of 65 years, Janie Rue Roth neé Evans, siblings, Clarence Roth and his wife, Marie, Margaret Bieser, and Paul Roth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The Saint Vincent DePaul Society Food Pantry at IHM in New Melle, MO.
The family is being served by Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville.
