HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Charles D. Schneider, 69, died peacefully on August 10, 2024, surrounded by his family at the Hudson Valley Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Rhinebeck on September 23, 1954, he was the son of the late Charles Elmer and Elizabeth Thelma (Sniffen) Schneider. Charles had been employed as a polisher with Pentair in LaGrangeville.
Charles was a man who was dedicated to his family and made friends easily, and then kept them because he was such a good and loyal friend. He was always there to help. He enjoyed fishing, and was able to fix just about anything.
On October 19, 2008, Charles married Jenny Cannata at LeChambord in Hopewell Junction. He was a loving husband to her for more than 15 years. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his siblings and their spouses, Susan and Richard Piccoli, Craig and Jan Schneider, Tommy and Debbie Schneider; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. On December 20, 2022, Charles' daughter, Jessica Schneider, passed away.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 12-1pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a service at 1pm.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hudson Valley Hospice House.

Charlie was one of a kind. We met Charlie when he worked at MPI in Poughkeepsie. He trained Tony on the machines. Charlie is a laid back person, always smiling and soft spoken. Every week, he would come to our house and get fresh eggs. He always asked about the chickens but Sam wouldn't let them go. Charlie was always willing to lend a hand. When we moved, he and Jenny were the only ones who came to help. Even living about 3 hrs away, he drove up and attended church with us and hung out for the day. He was the best buddy a man could have. Charlie will surely be missed by us and especially by his beautiful wife. I Love You Buddy (Tony). Rest in Peace our dear friend
