Obituary of Charles E. Shauger
Charles E. Shauger died suddenly on February 15, 2025. He was 59 years old.
The son of the late Hank Shauger and Mary Verrelli, he was born on January 29, 1966 in Port Jervis NY.
Charles was a passionate hunter and fisherman, who spent many hours outdoors with his family and friends. He enjoyed driving anything with wheels, including his ATVs or just a long scenic ride. Charles was a respected firefighter, serving as a Captain with Cuddebackville Fire Department for 15 years, and Sparrowbush as a firefighter for 23 years. He spent countless hours protecting and serving his community. Charles worked for Rohrer Bus company, DPW of Westfall Township and Combined Energy Service. Charles loved his kids and grandkids. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, following in his mother's footsteps.
In addition to his parents Charles was predeceased in life by his step father Tony Verrelli and mother in law Charlotte DeGroat.
Beloved husband of Susan Shauger. Proud father of Bryan Shauger (Katarina), Matthew Shauger (Austin), Scott Shauger (Samantha), and Dylan Shauger. Dear brother of Joie Ogrodnick and Henry Shauger. Grandfather of Evalina, Logan, Matthew Jr., Bryson, Jameson, Jaxon, Aurora, Colton and Austyn. Son in law of Harold DeGroat. Cherished uncle and great uncle of many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will take place on Sunday 2/23 from 12:00PM to 3:00PM at the Sparrowbush Fire Department 79 Main Street Sparrowbush NY 12780.
Private funeral and cremation services entrusted to Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home of Port Jervis, NY.
