James "Jim" Shauger, 95, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, in Brooksville, Florida. Born on May 22, 1929, in Wharton, New Jersey, Jim lived in Stockholm, New Jersey until retirement, moving then to Brooksville in 1986. Jim lived a long and fulfilling life marked by dedication to his craft, service to his country, and deep love for his family.

Jim was the son of George and Ida (Courtright) Shauger. He grew up in a large family with four brothers and five sisters, all of whom preceded him in death. From an early age, he developed a strong work ethic and a creative spirit that would define much of his life.

From 1950 to 1954, Jim served honorably as a Corporal in the 215th Tank Battalion of the 50th Armored Division with the New Jersey National Guard. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and pride that he carried throughout his life.

Following his service, Jim pursued a career as a skilled mason contractor. He also owned an auto wrecking business and junkyard. He became well known for his craftsmanship and artistry, particularly in designing and building fieldstone fireplaces. His work left a lasting impression across many homes and communities—a testament to both his talent and dedication.

Outside of work, Jim found joy in woodworking and listening to classic country music on his cherished album collection. These hobbies reflected both his hands-on creativity and appreciation for timeless traditions. Above all else, he treasured spending time with his family.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sarah (Crum) Shauger. He is survived by two daughters: Ida (John) Zuidema and Cindy Storms; four grandchildren: Jeremy Storms; Dani (Bill) Briggs; John (Michelle) Zuidema; and James (Lisa) Zuidema; as well as five great-granddaughters: Katie, Alison, Chloe, Peyton, and Bella. His legacy lives on through them and the many lives he touched with his warmth and craftsmanship.

Jim was known as a hardworking man with a loving heart and creative soul. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
