Charles W. Slump, known affectionately as Chuck by his friends and family, passed Saturday March 14, 2026, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born August 14, 1945, in
Henderson, IA, Chuck's life was a testament to the joy and laughter he brought into the world. His departure from
Rowlett, TX, at the age of 80, leaves a legacy of love, humor, and craftsmanship.
After graduating from a technology school, Chuck began his illustrious career with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1965. His dedication and expertise in telecommunications saw him rise through the ranks, culminating as a Network Operations Supervisor with AT&T. Chuck retired in 1999, but his passion for connecting people never waned.
Chuck's life was rich with interests and hobbies that reflected his multifaceted personality. He was an avid follower of politics, always ready with a witty quip about the latest news. His hands were skilled in the arts of woodworking and stained glass, creating beautiful pieces that reflected the beauty he saw in the world. Chuck was also an outdoorsman at heart, finding peace in hunting and bird watching, and he was a culinary adventurer, known for his fiery salsa and mouth-watering beef jerky that could make even a seasoned spice-lover sweat.
Above all, Chuck was a family man. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Linda, with whom he shared a love that was the envy of many. His children, Scott (Lori) Slump, Deborah (Mark) Johnson, and Jennifer (Lonnie) Hardin, were his pride and joy, along with his adored grandchildren Alisa (Adam) Hudson, Courtney, Kaitlyn, Abby, Mathew, Lizzy, Ruby and Charlie. Their Grandpa Chuck instilled in them a zest for life and a sense of humor that will continue to resonate through generations.
As we remember a loving husband, a devoted father, and adoring grandfather Chuck lived a full life. We smile through our tears, knowing that Chuck is somewhere up there, probably sharing a joke with the angels and preparing a heavenly batch of his legendary salsa.
Rest in peace, and may your laughter echo through eternity.
