John Strauser (July 7, 1957 – March 11, 2026)

John Strauser, 68, of Rowlett, passed away peacefully with his family on March 11. John loved three things most in the world, being surrounded by his loving family, listening to music on the porch while watching the sunset and his beloved wife of 43 years, Tara. Throughout his lifetime, he frequently experienced all three at the same time and that was heaven on Earth to him.

He was born in Monette, AR in 1957 to Boss Emmett Strauser and Mary Alice Strauser, who he loved with all his heart. John left home to find his calling with CBRE where he worked for many years as an Operations Manager where they were sad to see him retire.

John met the love of his life, Tara, at the beach in Galveston on a family vacation in 1978. John was 19 and he was immediately smitten with Tara until she told him that she was 15 and he jokingly told her she was jailbait. Tara was equally enamored with John and she professed that she was going to marry him someday. True to her word, the two were married on March 5, 1983 in Dallas. While John and Tara did not have children, they were parents to all their nieces and nephews who needed their love, guidance, support and the occasional tough love, which ended up being a tall task. John treasured his time with his nieces and nephews, so he loved hosting many of the family get-togethers at his home so he could catch up with them all. He also enjoyed gathering everyone together for family vacations where he could share uninterrupted quality experiences with the ones he loved.

John was preceded in death by his father, Boss, his mother, Mary, his brothers, Ronnie and Gary and his sisters, Judy and Janice. He is survived by his wife, Tara Strauser, his sisters, Diane Beeman (Larry Beeman), Sherry Janich (Rick Janich), his in-laws, Teresa Dunn, Nina Cox, Joe Dunn (Donna Dunn) and his nieces and nephews, Courtney Pine (Steven Pine), Zachary Beeman (Amy Beeman), Denise Whitehurst (Tracey Whitehurst), Dennis Flowers (Theresa Flowers), Tracy Day (David Day), Aaron Strauser (Kimberly Strauser), Kristin Sauter (Scott Sauter), Chase Sauter, Austin Sauter, Cameron Sauter, Krista Janich, Brook Janich, Aspen Ziegler (Ronnie Ziegler), Mikah Niedermaier (Jeremy Niedermaier), Kacee McCabe (Andrew McCabe), Amanda Kelsoe, Malkus Dunn (Abigail Dunn), Shane Dunn and Hanna Daniels (Cameron Daniels).

A celebration of John's life will be held graveside at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park on Thursday, March 19 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to In His Hands Children's Home would be greatly appreciated.
