Charles Walter "Chuck" Smith, Jr., 76, of Wilsonville, Alabama, passed away on Monday, January 12, surrounded by loving family.
Chuck was born July 12, 1949 in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Charles Smith, Sr. and Inez Smith. He graduated from Minor High School in 1967.
In 1969 Chuck joined the Army and served in the 173rd Airborne in Vietnam until honorably discharged in 1971.
Chuck married Janet Smith on December 18, 1971 at Hueytown United Methodist Chuch, with Janet's father Travis Warlick officiating.
After working many years as a draftsman/estimator at ACIPCO & US Pipe, Chuck retired in 2014.
Spending time with family and fishing were among his favorite hobbies. Chuck was also a Trustee at his home church, Wilsonville United Methodist.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles Smith, Sr.; his sister, Mary Smith; his parents-in-law, Travis and Marylin Warlick; brother-in-law, David Warlick; his nephew, Tanner White; and as his sister-in-law, Karen Smith.
He is survived by his wife Janet; his son, Brian Smith (wife Louise); his daughter, Jana Brasfield (husband Andrew); his granddaughters, Caleigh Brasfield and Peyton Brasfield; his mother, Inez Smith; his brother, George Smith; his sister, Sue Beck (husband John); his sister-in-law, Ruth White; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Crestview Funeral Home in Adamsville on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 10-11 am with a graveside service following at 11:00 am. The Celebration of Life will follow Friday afternoon at 3pm at Wilsonville United Methodist Church.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to the MICU nurses and staff at Shelby Baptist Medical Center.
