Charles W. Smith Jr.

Charles W. Smith, Jr., age 89, of Erie, PA., passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. He was surrounded by his broken-hearted family who were there with him during his journey to finding peace. He was born on January 8, 1936, a son of the late Charles W. Smith, Sr., and Charlotte Moodler Norell.

Chuck attended Erie Technical High School. His career path included being a draftsman at General Electric and later a draftsman at American Sterilizer. He then worked at Penn Aluminum as a supervisor until he retired. He was a founding member of the Cross Trailers Square Dance Club. After retiring, Chuck loved to travel with his wife Nancy. They travelled across the U.S. with their trailer and then permanently parked it at Evergreen Campground, where they enjoyed camping with many friends. Chuck loved to garden at home and became known for growing the best green onions! He also embarked upon many remodeling jobs around their home and became quite the craftsman. Chuck was known, wherever he went, as a jokester. He would always have a new joke to tell you when you saw him.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Charlene and Robert Kiel.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jeska Smith; his children, Brian Smith, Brenda McGrorey (Tim), and Dr. Bradley Smith; his grandchildren, Jason McGrorey, Brittany Yerace (Butch), Jory Smith, Jarek Reynolds, Blaze Smith (Brittnee), Hunter Smith (Ashley); and his beloved great-grandson, Luca Yerace.
