Charles William Sonn, a lifelong resident of Nutley, New Jersey, passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 85.
Born on August 16, 1940, to Laura and Charles Sonn, Charlie was one of five children-Winnie, John, Philip, David, and himself. He attended Yantacaw School and Nutley High School before earning a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Wyndham College in Vermont.
Charlie enjoyed a long and successful career in sales, working for Bristol Myers for 26 years and later serving as a sales manager for Keystone and Crossmark. Known for his integrity, work ethic, and humor, he retired from sales at the age of 72.
Beyond his professional life, Charlie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared 58 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Leona, and was the proud father of two sons, Andrew (Erin) and Peter (Jennifer). He adored his grandchildren-Julia, Drew, Camille, Kevin, and Matthew-who brought him great joy.
Charlie was an avid fly fisherman who tied his own flies and cherished time spent trout fishing. He was also deeply involved in his community, serving as a Little League coach, a deacon at St. Paul's Congregational Church, and a member of the Old Guard. He enjoyed his retirement, and Aruba was his happy place; his trip to Alaska with his family and grandchildren was a life-long bucket list item.
Memorial visitation will be at the S.W. Brown and Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre Street, Nutley, NJ 07110, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 10am-1pm. A memorial service will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon.
