Charles Jay Sowsonicut, age 57, of Heber City, formerly of Ft. Duchesne, passed away February 2, 2025, at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo.
He was born August 12, 1967, in Roosevelt, to Kenneth and Flora Jean UncaSam Sowsonicut.
Charles worked for many years in oil field construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting big game, traveling, rebuilding and fixing cars, and camping with his nephews. He attended pow wows, was a good handgame player, and participated in many traditional ceremonies. He liked to cook breakfast and breads. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going to Sundances, the sweat lodge, and cherished his time at church. He loved seeing his grandson, whenever they came to visit.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Cheree, Kayleigh, & Karlis Sowsonicut; grandson, Reign Curry; brother, Bryant Sowsonicut, Joshua Pena, sister, Jessica UncaSam; aunts and uncles, Clara Nanty, Dorothea Garcia, Harold Sowsonicut; Sophia, Marissa, & Karen Box.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Lindy Sowsonicut and Linda Sowsonicut.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ft. Duchesne Community Building. There will be a wake after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, at the community building.
Following the services and luncheon, he will be cremated.
