Helene Brock Murray, “TavooTah” age 89, of Ft. Duchesne, passed away at the Heber Valley Medical Center on October 26, 2025.
Helene was born June 21, 1936, in Ouray, Utah, to George and Margaret Sakamoots Brock.
Helene enjoyed beading, attending both the Sundance and Pow Wows, gambling, and she had a green thumb and a beautiful yard. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church. For many years she worked as a counselor with the Ute Tribe Alcohol & Drug Prevention Program. Years earlier she worked at a lab in Ft. Duchesne and everyone kidded her that she was the “Mad Scientist.”
She is survived by her children; Rose (Don) Taveapont, Aleda Gardner, Keith Cuch, Carrie Golding, Tina Burrows, Maxwell Cuch, Kim Cuch, Marlene Loney (Rayson Taveapont); numerous grand and great-grandchildren; her special niece, Johanna Jenkins; and her siblings, Raymond (Margaret) Wissiup, Julia Dilts, Evenelle Nick Bear; and aunt, Virginia Mowchean.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a baby boy, Loney; her children, Albert Myore, Roselia Myore, Kenneth Cuch, Jr., Shane Cuch, David Cuch; and her siblings, Yvonne Thompson, Karen Cesspooch, Jackie Brock, Chico Wissiup, Walter Wissiup, Angelina Redfoot, Clarice Wissiup, Stewart Wissiup, Pauletta UncaSam, Elsie Cesspooch, Evelyn Myore; and a special grandmother to whom she was very close, Ah Kup a voo
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at the Ft. Duchesne Community Building. A wake will be held on Friday at the same location after 3:00 PM.
Burial will be in the Ft. Duchesne Cemetery.
