Charles Lindwood Stanford, 82, of Panama City, FL, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024. Born on September 27, 1941, Chuck lived a life rich in love, compassion, humor, and faith.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, D.C. Stanford and Lois Davis, as well as his beloved wife Beverly Stanford, his son Christopher Taylor Stanford, and his cherished dog Billy.
Chuck is survived by his sister, Beth Stanford; daughters Sherry Preib, Tina Johnson, Erin Hamrick, and Andi Meade. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Amanda Slaton, Patrick Preib, Ryan Preib, Michael Preib, Brittany Johnson, Autumn Krukowski, Tori Krukowski, Charles Hamrick, Christopher Hamrick, Carolyn Hamrick, Callie Grace Meade, Justus Meade, and Eli Meade; and 6 great-grandchildren: Sage Mulzer, Lilli Preib, Lincoln Preib, Quinn Preib, Paisley March and Max March.
Chuck lived a life of many occupations in his 82 years. He was an electrician, a teacher, and counselor, among other things, but found his primary source of delight and joy in the role of teacher and counselor. In one of the last conversations his daughters had with him, he spoke with great emotion about his deep love for this favorite role of his, and of how profoundly he was changed by his interactions with students, stating that they did far more for him than he ever did for them.
His love for teaching and counseling was eclipsed only by his love of being a father to his daughters. He would go on to fulfill the role of a father in the lives of many students he encountered. He collected sons and daughters, and was immensely proud of the lives they went on to live.
Chuck was a man of deep and abiding faith. His love for the Lord and for the work the Lord had done in his life was a great source of strength and solace for him, and a primary topic of conversation. He was a bible scholar, and took great joy in the study of God's Word. Chuck had the ability to discuss the topic of faith with people that allowed them to be honest with where they were spiritually. He truly met people where they were.
Chuck will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his dedication to his students, his deep love for his God, as well as his quick wit and sense of humor. He will be greatly missed and his memory forever cherished. HIs legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service to honor Chuck's life will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 5:00pm at Madison Campus Seventh-day Adventist Church.
