I'm terribly saddened to hear of Chuck's passing.
I served in the Marines with Sgt. Verts, known to us as 'Deacon' for his friarly looks. We met in 1966 in Radar School in San Diego and were together until I left him in Vietnam in 1968. He was a wonderful friend with a very sharp wit, and I have some very distinct memories of moments with him. I am proud to have called him a friend and I offer my sincerest condolences to his wife and family.
