Charles Ray Wilhoite, 84, passed away at home surrounded by family in Georgetown, Kentucky, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Born in Owenton, Kentucky, to the late Toye Perkins Wilhoite and Lonnie Wilhoite on February 13, 1940, Charles was a hard worker and best known as a true horseman. He did factory work early in his career but felt most at home working on his farm. Charles always preferred being outside and riding his horses. He was extremely tough but was a kind and funny man. He always loved to tell jokes and keep everyone in stitches. He enjoyed making rounds in Scott County, visiting with friends and neighbors. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired from the US Army Reserves.
Charles is survived by his wife of 58 years, Iva Dean Nelson Wilhoite, his daughter, Dina (Mark) Breen of Stamping Ground, his stepchildren, Keith (Kola) Gaines of Nicholasville and Trina Ruth of Frankfort, his grandchildren, Charlsey (Kaden) Wells, Collin (Kasey) Jones, Courtney Breen, Kolaleenia Hobgood, Thea Vance, Jared Vance, Tara Vance, and his great-grandchildren, Paisley Wells, Kaseton Wells, Braden Gross, and McCoy Hobgood. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded by his siblings, Harold Wilhoite, Monk Wilhoite, Willis Wilhoite, Dot Wilhoite, and Margaret Cloyd.
Visitation for Charles Wilhoite will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024, at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral Service with Military Honors will be the following day, Monday, November 4th beginning at 11:00 am, with Brother David Casey officiating. Military Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky, where pallbearers will be Kaden Wells, Jack Jones, Braden Gross, Mark Breen, Terry Darnell, and Lane Crawley. Honorary pallbearers are Charlsey Wells, Kasey Hyndman, Bill Graves, David Darnell, and Jan Cloud.
