September 23, 1935 – June 2, 2025
Genevieve Lee Wilhoite passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on June 2, 2025, at the age of 89. A faithful disciple of Jesus, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Genevieve lived a life marked by service, laughter, and unwavering hope in the gospel.
Genevieve was born in Waynesburg, Kentucky, on September 23, 1935, to Sergius and Christine Singleton. Being raised on a farm, Genevieve learned the value of hard work. After graduating from high school, she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where she met Donald F. Wilhoite at Landmark Baptist Church. They married on April 7, 1956. They celebrated 40 years of marriage before his passing in 1996.
Genevieve served in the ministry of Accelerated Christian Education for 37 years before retiring at the age of 80. Her favorite memories from those years are from the 30 years she was involved with the International Student Convention.
Genevieve served in her local church for many years as a Sunday School teacher, Awana leader, and choir member, to name a few.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. Wilhoite, her parents, her sisters Lucille Spencer, Lorilla Singleton, and Donita Hays, and her brother Billy Singleton. She is survived by her sister Norma Norton and her brothers Bobby Singleton and Keith Singleton; her daughters, Melody Reiner, Kimberly O'Leary, Marjorie Youngblood, and Christine Polito; her ten grandchildren; Heather, Paula, Jay, Julie, Shannon, Ryan, Katlyn, Abigail, Jessica, and William; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Though her earthly journey has ended, her influence continues through the countless lives she touched and the gospel she lived.
A visitation and viewing will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 740 Edmonds Lane, Lewisville, Texas. A memorial service celebrating Genevieve's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Grace Baptist Church, 3200 Firewheel Drive, Flower Mound, Texas. Genevieve will be laid to rest in a private family graveside service at Flower Mound Cemetery, beside her beloved husband.
